If you are successful, and desire to be the best at what you do, you are like most of my readers. You are committed to having fun, developing your creativity, and have a huge heart. You also want to have a balanced life and strive to grow, get better, and reach your full potential. You have a large dream for your life.
But life always seems to throw a wrench in the mix. There is always just so much to do, and you don’t know where to begin. Maybe you feel like this hairstylist:
“I love hairdressing, but I don’t know what is next, and my back aches…I don’t know how long I can do this. I want to be great at what I do, but I don’t have a sense of direction, and my boss is always wanting me to sell, and I’m not a sales person.”
Does This Sound Like You?
It’s okay to be honest with yourself.
- Do you feel like you can’t get where you want to be?
- Do you fear you won’t achieve your dreams?
- Do you stress about what to do next?
If so, you are not alone. All Master Hairstylists have felt this way at one point or another in their careers.
I Know How You Feel
For years, I needed to wing it in the learning of how to become a Master Hairstylist. Yes, I had role models, but I began to outgrow them. Much of the information I have learned through my career, is not what I learned in beauty school. And much of of what is written is for the salon owner, not the stylist.
As well, you hear, “You need to bring up your sales?” And you say, “I’m really not a salesperson, I’m an artist!” Do you feel pressured, tired and fed up with a job that takes all of your energy? Do you wonder how you will possibly last in this industry for much longer? Does your body hurt from back pain, joint pain, wrist pain? Or, are you simply depressed and anxious about making your bills, feeling as though hairstyling is a curse?
I know how it feels to feel like you have no direction, and maybe you are not even sure you want to continue hairstyling. Or, maybe you feel destined for a grander life, but you are unsure of how to get there.
For 15 years ago, I struggled too. It wasn’t until a life changing pilgrimage, if you will, to India. I realized in this journey that I was meant to be a hairstylist! I knew there was something more meaningful for me to do. Another lesson learned on this amazing journey was that, you take you wherever you go, whether it is across the world, or salon to salon.
I had much work to do, and it started within. If you are like me, you value the gift you were given, your health, your loved ones, and contributing to your community.
