Grow With Us On This Wild Ride

You, the hairdresser are the focus of my relaunch of this site and blog. You are who I have in mind when I write in the morning, after I close my eyes and contemplate.  I ask myself, what does our industry need?  What do hairdressers want?  What would make their lives easier?  How may I be of service?  Are you ready for the answer?

The mission with this blog is to bring you content that will make you pause for a moment and think about your life as it is, where you would like to be in a week, a year, three years, five years, 10 years and beyond.  I want you to consider where you are right now, on all level: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual.  Think about the areas of your life that work, and those that don’t.

What areas of your career can use some tune up?  Does it fee like you can sustain the level you are at for the rest of your career?  Or, have you thought of doing something else with your life, because your body hurts, or you are tired?  Are you content in your relationships inside the salon and outside?  Do you vacation, do you make the money you need to live and save?  Are you having enough fun, or too much fun and not enough planning.

We are throwing all this in the mix, and creating content that will cover all these areas, and offer up ideas, techniques, ways in which you can utilize to make changes in your life.  The kind of hairdressing skills most of us were not taught in beauty school.

One thing for sure, I wasn’t taught, and never thought to dream.  One of my guiding thoughts in life is if you can’t dream it, it won’t happen.  Dream larger than life, beyond where you thought you might ever be.  Because unless we can imagine it, it will not happen.  One day you will find yourself living your dream.

I’ve dedicated my life the hairdressing industry for over 25 years, and absolutely love it.  Did I always? The answer is no. The path has led me away from and back towards a few times, but about 15 years into it, I discovered my passion for the craft, and an upmost respect for those who came before me.

But I had to find my own way of doing it. I had to search out my mentors, and without the internet, it was expensive, and difficult to find, unless you were assisting a master hairdresser.  But I always found the right home for the time, and luckily the list of salons I’ve worked is not long.

A year ago, I opened my studio ShineForth Salon, to finally serve clients in a way that respected myself, and offered them the prime experience.  Now that I’m settled there, I knew the time was nearing to get on with the larger piece of work, that would touch more hairdressers all over the world.  I needed to work with the larger community of hairdressers, you,  who want help developing themselves, and their careers.  This dream I’ve always known, and didn’t know when it would manifest.  Here we are.

With this in mind, my desire is to create a hub for hairdressers who seek a better way of doing things, a more sustainable, meaningful, and impactful career, and life. Taking your job of getting clients in the chair and out, into a vocation, where lasting happiness and peace of mind can grow, and ultimately make you more money.

Look around my site, and see what is there waiting for you. I invite you to be part of a community of hairdressers that is committed to personal growth, and ready to elevate not only themselves, but the profession, then this is the place for you, and I can’t wait to get to know you.  Become a subscriber.

Let’s roll up our sleeves and dig in!  The site will change now and again as I deepen my own work.  Soon we will add a weekly podcast, once a month live webinars, and a library of suggested reading.  Stay tuned, and please, any topics you would like to hear discussed, leave a comment.
